"Oh great, another card game!" For Balatro’s launch trailer we had to ensure it wasn't lost in the shuffle of other card games and that the mind-bending rogue-like elements shone through.
Working closely with the developer and Playstack's marketing team, we focused on highlighting the unique role of Joker cards in the game. The voiceover script deliberately overwhelms new viewers with information to hint at the game's mechanical depth. I also created motion graphics that matched the in-game graphics very closely. This allowed us to have creative control over what the Jimbo card says in the intro animation.
